Most people don’t realize what a virtual assistant does and that is why they don’t believe that one can make enough money to pay their bills. What you need to understand is that a virtual assistant doesn’t just get paid by one person for sitting at home and waiting around for them to send work, they have multiple clients.
Think about this, if you are getting paid only $5 per hour but you have four different clients that pay you that, then you are making $20 an hour? This is the reason why more and more people are turning to virtual assistant jobs in order to make the money that they need.
Now that you know you can make money as a virtual assistant, you also need to understand that it will take some time to build up a clientele that you can turn to. Most virtual assistants get paid very little when they first start out but once they get the hang of it and can find more people to assist, then they will really start to make a good living. The trick here is to find a few good clients who will hire you to be their virtual assistant.
Where can I find good clients?
Craigslist – One place I always go in order to find clients is Craigslist. The best part about Craigslist is that you can find clients in Canada, the United States, Mexico and even other countries. Some of the best places that I have found to find clients is in the Philippines, Norway and Australia. By going to these three places on Craigslist you should be able to find a good amount of clients to talk to about possibly becoming their assistant.
Elance – Elance is probably one of the best places to go in order to find clients. What you will like about Elance is that they have a program that you can use in order to track how long you have been working and they even hold the money in an escrow account to ensure that you get paid.
Forums – Going to a webmaster forum is what I used to do and sometimes still do. The reason I use forums is because they always have new people looking for work. A lot of the jobs you will find on here are not big jobs, however, they do pay and will keep you busy when you can’t find work elsewhere.
These are the places that I highly recommend going to if you want to find some good clients. My suggestion is to try all three of these places to find good clients. Remember, this is your business, so you have the option to work with the people that you want to work with. Just know that the more clients you have the more options you will get, so don’t stop getting new clients as you need to continue to expand your client base.
