How To Manage Your Expenses And Still Be Fashionable

by Guest on June 27, 2012

The fashion world today is moving so fast that not everyone can keep up with its pace. We often see celebs changing their wardrobe every season and we get envious of their lifestyle. There is no problem with that if you have enough money to pay off your credit card bills when they arrive. What if you are on a budget? Budgeting doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice your love for fashion, you just have to balance things out.  Here’s how.

Credit Limit

There is no doubt that shopping with your credit card is pleasurable. But when the bill arrives, do you enjoy it too? Or have you exceeded your limit? Knowing what your credit limit is will help you avoid exceeding it. You should always stay below it by at least  20%. Doing this will give you good points on your credit report. There’ll also be less worrying about credit debt and balances.

The Basics

When it comes to fashion, there are basic pieces that never go out of style; and there are statement pieces that easily become so-last-season. If you want to keep your expenses on a low down, opt for the basic pieces so that you won’t have to change your wardrobe all the time. You will save a lot of money in the long run.

Use Cash  More and Your Credit Card Less

There are times when you can actually pay for items in cash, and doing so every now and then is actually a good thing. This can prevent credit card debt from piling up. Don’t let your card tempt you to use it all the time because you might end up with a high bill and in the end you’ll miss out on payments, hurting your credit score even more.

Do a Credit Check

Before you go out shopping, it’s best to get a free credit report and check your credit status.  If you have a bad credit history with lots of bills pending to be paid, you wouldn’t want to further the damage. Plan your budget and manage your finances properly.

Don’t Distribute Your Expenses

You may think that it is smart to scatter your purchases to other cards, but doing that will only make it harder for you to manage your accounts. Try to charge everything on a single card to make it easier to manage. Again, do not forget to take note of your credit limit to ensure that you don’t exceed it.

Keeping up with fashion doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice your finances in order to fit in. You just have to know how to weigh both sides in order to enjoy both equally. Just remember to be smart and financially responsible at the same time.
