There are so many really neat things you can do with your kiddos even if you don’t have a lot of money to spend. The truth is, your kids most likely just want you to pay attention to them anyway, and that doesn’t cost you anything except time. So, without further ado, below are a few ideas for things to do that don’t break the bank.
- Make shadows on the wall. Light some candles and set them on a table. Then, turn off all the lights and take turns making different shadow shapes and get the others to guess what the shapes are.
- Invite your kiddos best buddies over for a play date. They can entertain each other and play with toys, play outside, etc.
- Check out a nearby playground. Pack a picnic lunch and make an adventure out of it.
- Watch a favourite movie that you already own at home. Pop some popcorn to make it extra special.
- Melt some chocolate in a pot and dip fruit in it and enjoy eating it together.
- Make a homemade pizza together.
- Play favourite board games, card games, etc. as a family.
- Swim in a nearby lake.
- Help your kiddos make a snow fort and then have a snowball fight. Making a snowman is always fun too.
- Hang out at the local library, borrow interesting books and DVDs and read and watch them together.
There are so many ways to have fun, and many of them don’t cost anything except your time. Get creative. Find out what makes your kids tick, and then take advantage of the abundance of resources around you that don’t cost anything.
