While visiting a friend who has young children, she shared with me a great online resource that her kids use to learn how to type. It’s called Dance Mat Typing, and it’s a website that is free to use. It’s based out of the UK and it makes learning to type a lot of fun for kids. The site is very colorful and it features neat animations to make learning amusing.
While visiting a friend recently, she gave me a great idea for a way that helps her to keep herself organized as well as to save money on her grocery bill every week. Her trick is to use a MenuTemplate that she prints off each week before buying groceries. She writes down what she plans to make, looks into her cupboards and fridge to see what she already has, and then fills in the section for what she still needs to buy.
Recently my husband and I went on another road trip. We drove about 5000 kilometers over the course of 8 days, spending time with friends and camping. We are usually really good about sticking within a tight vacation budget,, however, on this trip we were more careless with how we spent our money. And, as a result, our vacation ended up costing more than we anticipated.
I have written before about the importance of employees taking advantage of their work benefits, as the benefits are a big part of an employee’s compensation. Unfortunately, due to misunderstanding the true cost of the health and dental benefits offered at my husband’s work place, we decided not to take advantage of his benefits. We thought that they were too costly and that we wouldn’t make enough use of them to justify the cost.
Unfortunately both my husband and I have had to get some major dental work done recently and after looking into his benefits further, had we decided to sign up for the benefits when he was first eligible, the benefits would have turned out to be really helpful now in paying our dental bills.

Rather than getting all stressed out about your gift shopping and leaving it until the very last minute, why not do your shopping all year round? By doing so you will have a lot of time to find just the right gift for each family member and you will often find great deals and ideas when you’re not even looking for them!
Although I usually end up still doing some shopping in the overcrowded malls in December, I am happy to say that almost every year I have shopped for at least half the people on my list before the big rush, so it makes shopping much easier.
