Tips For Saving For A Spring Or Summer Getaway

Now that your MBA program is drawing to a close, there’s no doubt that you’ll be eyeing the various high-paying MBA jobs out there. With that said, why not put away a little bit of your earnings so you can save for a spring or summer getaway. This would be a great way to unwind, relax, and reward yourself for all your hard work. Here’s a look at some simple money-saving tips you can use so that you’ll be well on your way to that dream vacation.

Research Trip Pricing

In order to save for a trip you need to know how much that trip is going to cost you. It’s a good idea to start researching preferred destinations and average prices well in advance of your actual vacation date. Some tour operators even offer an early booking discount that can help to make the trip more affordable.

Set Up a Trip Bank Account

One of the best ways to save money is to put it somewhere that isn’t easily accessible. A good idea is to set up a designated bank account for your vacation. You can store your savings in here and make it so that it’s hard to make withdrawals. You can even set up your regular bank account to make scheduled deposits to the trip fund.

Save Your Change

Think about all the change you get on a regular basis, now over time imagine how much that can add up to. For many people saving their change is what allows them to buy that big ticket item, go on vacation, and just splurge. Get into the habit of clearing out your change into a jar at the end of the day. You can then roll up the change on a monthly basis and add it to your savings account.

Cut Back on Entertainment Expenses

If you find that money is a little tight and you don’t seem to have much extra to put in that savings account, then it’s time to start making cuts. Cutting back on your entertainment expenses is an easy place to make these cuts. This includes such things as eating out, going out to the movies, sporting events, and concerts. By scaling back on these expenses, you’ll have a lot more money to place in that savings account.

Sell Items You Don’t Want/Use

Another great way to make some money for your trip fund is to go through your belongings and find things you no longer want or use, and sell them. There are all kinds of local buy and sell groups nowadays, so finding a buyer is usually pretty easy.

Stay Positive and Motivated

The best thing you can do for yourself is to stay positive and motivated as you work towards your savings goal. There’s no doubt that the various MBA careers out there keep you busy, but they still leave time for holidays so why not treat yourself to a great one!
