Can I Make Money Blogging?

Have you ever heard of John Chow? If not, then let me tell you how he makes over $50,000 from his home office in Vancouver, British Columbia by blogging. So yes, you can make money blogging but it is not easy. The reason blogging is not easy is because you have to sit down and write, write, write, and write some more. Blogging is all about getting great content on the internet for other people to read and the more content you have, the more people will come to see it.

How do you make money blogging?

There are many ways to make money blogging, the more notable way is to use Google Adsense. Google Adsense has been around for quite some time and has made many millionaires. The best part about Google Adsense is that all you have to do is create a website, get content on it and then place your ads. The way you get paid is by getting people to click on those ads. The benefit of using Google Adsense is that you don’t have to worry about anything, Google does all the work while your website just houses that ad for as long as you want to get paid. Trust me, if you are just starting out with blogging, then Google Adsense is the way to go.

Choose a topic of interest to you.

Being that you will have to put in a decent amount of time and effort, I highly recommend that you choose a topic that you can easily blog about. For example, sports, cars, family, travel or anything that you have a passion for. Trust me on this one, blogging about a passion is much better and you will stick with it a lot longer.

Time is on your side.

From my own personal experience, blogging doesn’t pay much at first, but you do it for the love of it.  Treat it as a hobby and it won’t pay you much, but if you treat it as a business, you will get more out of it.  My husband has much more of a business mindset than I do, so when I first started Pennysaverblog, I thought of it only as a hobby, a way to share my thoughts and what I was learning about finance.  My husband taught me that blogging can make money, too.  You must be patient, though, as the money doesn’t come overnight.  You work for very many hours for free, which is why it is so key to really have a passion for what you are doing.  Don’t start a blog if you don’t anticipate spending at least a few hours each week on it, and don’t start a blog if you feel like you will get bored of it quickly.  Then you are just wasting your time.  If I can start a blog, anyone can, so be encouraged.  If you have something you want to share with others, the door is wide open with many resources available to walk you through the process.  Good luck!
