Five Fun Things To Do For Free

If you have a family, there is no way out of spending money on things you do not want to do. Aside from doctor visits and education costs, kids are going to want you to spend your hard earned cash on all sorts of entertainment ventures, junk food, and toys they are going to get bored with after a couple of hours. While your kid’s attention span may be on par with a fruit fly, your money supply doesn’t have to get sucked into an electric buzzer. It is easy to find things around your city that are free and will distract your kids until the next episode of SpongeBob Squarepants comes on.

Rent Movies from the Library

If you haven’t checked out movies from your local library in a long time, you might be in for a surprise. Digital editions of your favorite flicks are available to download on your Samsung Galaxy, which then can be transferred to your home entertainment system.

Visit the Zoo

If you are lucky enough to live in a city with a free zoo like Washington DC or St. Louis, you should take advantage of the opportunity. It is a great place to not just learn about animals, but also douse yourself in wonder and merriment.

Sculpture Parks

Sculpture parks are scattered throughout the cities and counties of just about every American town. Not only will visiting one of these places give your kids a cultural experience, you will also be walking around in the sunshine getting some much-needed exercise.

Gone Fishin’

If you have a couple of fishing rods hiding out in your attic, you should dust them off and take them for a cast. A cup of worms in dirt is cheap, and most places will not even require that your kids have a license for fishing. After you are finished, you can take your catch back home and fry it up with some slaw, fries, and hush puppies.

Go to a Minor League Game

A large part of the MLB is the intricate farm system in place for major league training. There are teams all around the country that are supporting their National and American League sponsors; and they need to fill seats. In order to get people through the gate, the tickets are priced anywhere from cheap to free. The concessions are a lot cheaper than professional teams too because the stadiums don’t need as much upkeep.

Not only will these free activities save you cash, they are all cross-educational experiences that will promote culture.
