I thought it was time to post an update on the Pennysaverblog 100-Day Challenge. I’ve got 74 days left to go and so far it has been going fairly well.
Here’s what has happened since the first update:
Exercising for 15 minutes a day has been going well, although there were two days that I didn’t exercise. My excuse? I haven’t been feeling very well lately, however, I shouldn’t make excuses, so from now on I am determined not to miss another day during the rest of this challenge.
Books can be really expensive, but the knowledge we can gain from them is sometimes priceless. That being said, I am all about being a good steward with my money, so below is the process I follow when I want to read a certain book.
Whenever my husband or I learn about a book that we want to read, instead of going out and buying it right away, we check our local library database online to see if they have a copy available. If they do, we put in a request online and we are notified when it is ready for pick up. We do this for all the books that we only plan to read once.
Credit is your reputation as a borrower. Before offering you a loan, lenders use your credit score to determine the amount of loan you can be offered, the term of the loan and also the rate of interest. You can raise the score by cleaning your credit report.
What is a credit report?
A credit report is a record of your borrowing and repaying activities including information on late payments, tax liens and bankruptcy. It also includes your identifying information and bank account details, and reflects your ability to repay a loan. A credit score is a computer generated number based on statistical analysis of your report. The score is relative and is accessed by your lenders to determine the risk they take by lending you money.
My husband I recently purchased a D-Link gadget used for network storage. It was priced at $195.00 at the Future Shop located within a short driving distance from our home, but it was only $165.00 at CBIT, which is located across the city from us.
Before making purchases for such items, my husband does research online. He compares prices and quality of various brands to make sure he gets the ‘biggest bang for his buck’. Although we knew that it would cost more at Future Shop, we decided to print out the CBIT advertisement and see if Future Shop would price match, sparing us from having to drive across the city.

I think it is really important for all of us to learn as much as we can about investing so that we are fully informed when we make our investment choices. It’s good to know the difference between a stock and a bond and how a mutual fund works.
